Franklin WV: Treasure Mountain Festival

Franklin WV Treasure Mountain Festival

Our real estate agents at Old Dominion Realty work hard to bring you the best experience when you look for Franklin homes for sale. We'll be by your side throughout your home buying experience  – and that commitment starts when you're first exploring the market.

When relocating a long way, many people will visit the city where they plan to move several times before they finish the house-hunting process.

Since you're going to be visiting, why not have fun at some exciting local events?

The 50th Annual Treasure Mountain Festival is one great weekend you won't want to miss – and it's coming up right here in Franklin, West Virginia.

Franklin's Own Treasure Mountain Festival is a Unique Celebration of Heritage

Running from Thursday, September 13th through Sunday September 16th, the Treasure Mountain Festival is an old-fashioned Appalachian Mountain get-together that will leave you looking forward to everything West Virginia has in store.

The festival has so many things to do; it's almost impossible to list them all:

  • Traditional Food and Drink
Any good country festival has to come with memorable meals to savor. You'll get to taste local specialties as well as observe some of them being made. Apple butter and cider making are both popular, as is heritage tea and the many pies.
  • Tons of Contests to Watch or Compete In
Contests are a big part of the Festival, and they come in all kinds of varieties you might not imagine. The Beard and Mustache Contest is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasers of the whole weekend. There's also the giant pumpkin contest, jousting (yes, jousting!) and more.
  • Lots of Enjoyment for the Kids
Naturally, kids love the Treasure Mountain Festival. There's something for all ages: From the treasure hunt to the puppet show and storytelling time, kids will never get bored. Antique cars, arts and crafts, and a slew of other events are ideal for older kids and teen.

The Grand Parade is the centerpiece of the event. It has long attracted all kinds of community groups to create amazing floats, displays, and performances. Of course, there are also marching bands, including up and coming high school marching bands from throughout the area.

Antique tractors, cars, and trucks are also a traditional part of the big parade. You'll be able to spend time with some of these classic vehicles in the shows that go on the day prior. All vehicles must be model year 1979 or earlier, so they are authentic blasts from the past.
